Claim management is primarily intended as a service for underwriters, but it can also be of significant value to diligent boat owners.
In large or complex claims—where repair periods may extend over several months or even more than a year—it is often not possible for either the shipyard or a surveyor to provide a reliable cost forecast due to the scope and complexity of the work involved. In such cases, only close and continuous monitoring of the claim, including regular reviews of progress and accumulated costs, allows potential irregularities to be identified and effective cost control to be maintained.
Based on extensive experience overseeing claims of this nature, it has become evident that rigorous oversight by an independent party is often essential to achieve a cost analysis and settlement figure that is claim-related, fair, and reasonable.
